Lifeguard Certification Class

The Muscatine Community YMCA will be offering  American Red Cross Blended Learning Lifeguarding Courses.

Certification requires participants be at least 15 years old by the last day of the course, attendance at all class sessions is MANDATORY, and is dependent on class and exam performance.  This is a blended learning course, so participants complete online and in-class activities.  Some lessons/ activities MUST be completed prior to the first class meeting.  Certification is valid for 2 years and includes Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.  

In order to obtain certification students must attend, actively participate and pass the pre-course swimming skills evaluation prior to the in-person course, successfully complete all eLearning content, successfully participate in all in-person class sessions, demonstrate competency in all required skills, pass both final exams with 80% or better and pass both final skills scenarios.

Pre-Course Swimming Skills Evaluation: Wednesday, March 23rd: 5:00-6:00pm

In-Person Sessions*: Friday, April 1st: 5:30-9:00pm
                                        Saturday, April 2nd: 9:00am-5:00pm
                                        Sunday, April 3rd: 10:00am-5:00pm

Course 2:

Pre-Course Swimming Skills Evaluation: Wednesday, April 13th: 5:00-6:00pm

In-Person Sessions*: Friday, April 22nd: 5:30-9:00pm
                                        Saturday, April 23rd: 9:00am-5:00pm
                                        Sunday, April 24th: 10:00am-5:00pm

Course 3:

Pre-Course Swimming Skills Evaluation: Wednesday, April 20th: 5:00-6:00pm

In-Person Sessions*: Friday, April 29th: 5:30-9:00pm
                                        Saturday, April 30th: 9:00am-5:00pm
                                        Sunday, May 1st: 10:00am-5:00pm

*In-Person Session may be adjusted based on number of participants, pace of class, activity in pool, etc.
