Muscatine Community YMCA Youth Soccer is a developmental, recreational program for boys and girls in PreSchool (Ages 4 to 5 years) and grades K through 8. The program’s objectives are: development of soccer skills, teaching sportsmanship and fair play, socialization among teammates and other teams, and enjoying the sport of soccer.
How are the coaches picked?
All of our coaches are volunteers. Some of them are Y staff, some are parents helping coach their kids, while others are individuals from the community who share the same Y values. ALL of our coaches go through a background check. Your child’s safety is our #1 priority.
How often are practices?
Our teams practice twice a week. We know your life is busy so most of those practices will last around one hour.
Will practices be at the Y?
We wish we could accommodate all team practices at our Y, but due to scheduling, some teams may practice at other locations in town.
Where will games be played?
All of the games will be held at the Muscatine Soccer Complex.
What does my child need to bring?
If your child has soccer cleats, by all means please wear them! However, playing in tennis shoes will be just fine.
Your child will need to wear shin guards during practice and games for protection against injuries to their shin area.
During the games please have your child decked out in his/her Y Soccer team shirt!
For our younger kiddos (ages 3 to 5) not yet ready to participate in our Soccer program, we offer classes where they can gain knowledge of soccer skills and team-play or play in small-sided skill games.
