ProgramDirector: Amy Hessel Amy graduated from Loras College in 1997 with a BA in English Writing. After college she became an AmeriCorps Member, working one year with Safe Streets, and a half-year with Family Resources as a Shelter and Legal advocate. During that time at Family Resources she also did child groups and sexual abuse advocacy. The second part of the year was spent with Big Brothers Big Sisters, working with the unmatched littles, completing paperwork and trainings. For two years while in AmeriCorps Amy worked as the Activity Center Director at an outreach program for the Mississippi Valley Girl Scouts. There she worked with girls in kindergarten through fifth grade, planning and implementing art and recreational activities. Amy has been the Character Development Director at the Muscatine Community Y since 1999.

The Muscatine Community Y’s licensed after school care is for children in Kindergarten through 5th grades and offers children a fun alternative to the school day routine! Children will enjoy a variety of fun activities including Arts & Humanities; Fitness & Wellness (including sports & swimming); Homework Support; Science & Technology; Service Learning; Healthy Snacks; And Lots of Fun! Transportation provided by Muscatine School buses, contact them directly to make arrangements. Registration for Fall After School Kids’ Club open now! Hours: Fee: Member Fee: Nonmember Care for school-age children during holiday and other school vacations. Beverage and snacks are furnished. Students must bring a sack lunch and swimsuit and towel. Must register and pay at least two days in advance. Daily Fee: Late Registration TAPS (Teen Age Parent Services) is a child care program located at Muscatine High School. Its purpose is to support enrolled teens who are working to complete their high school education.
