The Muscatine Community Y was built in 1991 through the generosity of many local businesses and individuals.  The facility features two pools, a whirlpool, steamrooms, saunas, a full-line exercise and weight lifting area, an indoor track, gyms, several multi-purpose rooms used for land fitness classes, six racquetball courts, a golf-drive room, a youth/teen center, a licensed day care, preschool and after-school child care center.

Several community service programs are located at the Muscatine Community Y including the Big Brothers Big Sisters program of Muscatine County, Family Program Services and our Character Development program which offers a variety of activities for youth and teen.  All of these programs are free and open to the public.

Following are some pictures of our facility. We hope this gives you a better idea of what we have to offer. If you have any questions after looking this over, you can email us at sgraves@muscatiney.org or call the Y at 263-9996.

Aquatics Area:

We feature two pools and a whirlpool in our aquatics area. The large pool is a 25 yard lap pool with 6 lanes and the water is kept at approximately 82 degrees.  Many of our swim lessons and some of our water exercise classes are held in this pool.  Two of the lap lanes are generally kept open during all hours the pool is open to the public. This is also the pool that hosts the 8 and under Muscatine Swim Club practices.

The small pool is 30 feet by 15 feet and is only 4 ½ feet deep. This pool is kept at 87 degrees and has an entrance/exit ramp and a chair lift. This pool is used for water exercise classes, swim lessons and physical rehabilitation programs.

Our whirlpool seats a maximum of 12 people and is open to all Y members who are 16 years and older.   The temperature of the whirlpool is kept around 102 degrees.  The whirlpool is open during all aquatics area hours.

Weight Room:

We feature a full-line weight room and exercise area with STRIVE selectorized weights.  We offer a variety of cardio equipment  including Stairmasters, stationary bikes, Elliptical machines, rowing machines and treadmills.  We also have a large free weight area.  We have an  indoor track that requires 15 laps on the outside lane to make a mile.  The weight room is open during regular facility hours although members are asked to leave the fitness area 15 minutes prior to closing which gives members time to utilize the locker rooms and ensure the facility can close in a timely manner.

Racquetball Courts:

Our facility features six racquetball courts.  One of the courts has been set up with a volleyball  net and you can find people in there playing a fun game of Wallyball! Racquetball courts can be reserved by members 9th grade or older.  Middle School Youth need to check in at the Service Center for available walk-on court time. Elementary children are required to participate with a parent or in a scheduled program to use the racquetball courts.  A court may be reserved for one-hour periods by calling 263-9949.  There is no fee for “same day” racquetball court reservations, although there is a $2.00 fee to reserve a court 2 to 7 days in advance.  If you’re interested in joining our Racquetball League program, you can call Randy at 263-9949 for more information.

Locker Rooms:

We feature four locker rooms at our facility.  We have a Men’s locker room and a Women’s locker room,  which are to be used by adult and post high school members only. We also feature a Women/Girls locker room and a Men/Boys locker room. These locker rooms are open to members of all ages. We require that school-age children must use the appropriate same sex locker room, but children who are younger than this may go into either of the locker rooms with their parent/guardian.

Lockers can be rented on a yearly basis in any of the locker rooms.  Towel service is included in Rental Fees.  If you do not want to rent a locker, you may use open lockers in the Women/Girls or Men/Boys locker rooms.  These lockers are available for daily usage and we  require that you remove all belongings when you are finished each day. Members who do not rent lockers are asked to bring a padlock when using one of the open lockers. We also have a Changing Room for anyone who needs assistance changing.  The key to this room is kept at our Service Center.
