How To Contribute: Supporting the Work of the Y

The Muscatine Community Y is a membership organization committed to serving all children and families through our programs and services.  Because of this commitment, we offer subsidized memberships and subsidized class fees to income-eligible children, families and individuals.  No child or family is turned away because of their inability to pay.

Funds to support these memberships are raised each year through our Muscatine Community Y Community Partners Campaign.  The funds raised by this campaign are applied to Membership Assistance as well as several other programs we offer including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Family Program Services, Child Care Services, and Character Development which focuses on programs for youth and teens.

Our Community Partner Campaign made a real difference in the life of the one family, devastated by the 2007 tornado.

Sandy* and her husband have four wonderful children ranging in age from eight years to three. 2007 proved to be a challenging year for their family. Their home was completely destroyed in the tornadoes that swept through Muscatine, and in the midst of this, her husband made a transition in his employment.

"Our lives were in total upheaval and times were very difficult for us." As Sandy and her family made due in temporary living accomodations, she tried to provide some consistency and security for the children. "We came to the Y on a daily basis. The children enjoyed their time playing in the child care and I definitely worked off some stress in the exercise area! I was able to accomplish my weight loss goals, in spite of all the craziness! We really needed the Y! But, with our finances being stretched thin, a membership at the Y wouldn't have been possibly without the help we received from the Partners Campaign."

"My family is very fortunate for the support we've received from our community and from the Y!"

* Name has been changed to ensure the member's privacy.

Funds to support our Community Partners Campaign are also raised through Birdies For Charity, a fundraiser based on the John Deere Classic Golf Tournament held each July.  Pledge forms are available at the Muscatine Community Y each June and July.

It is with the generous contributions we receive from businesses and individuals in our community that we can build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.  If you are interested in helping us in our efforts and contributing to our Community Partners Campaign or would like more information, please contact Sarolta Graves at sgraves@muscatiney.org or Susan Cory at scory@muscatiney.org or call either at the Y at 263-9996.
